Classical Considerations of Form and Beauty

The theme and content of my thesis project provide an opportunity to explore the classical form of design as it might relate to new media. I believe that there are many methods from Classical art and design which are applicable. Many classical principles, such as using geometric construction, develop an overall harmony of design and are especially suited to web design. However, they are rarely considered.

The design of the Cosmic Knot would attempt to show how these classical considerations can be implemented in the new environments, and to show how a purely digital project can manifest itself in the classic form of the book and the fine art print. From a design perspective, the Cosmic Knot would attempt to answer the question, What is the equivalent of the “Fine Book” on the web?
