My dad loves fly fishing. It's something that he passed on to me and I spent many days as a little kid going on fishing trips with my dad. He was the complete angler — he built his own fly rods, tied his own flies (even collected his own materials from birds and other animal skins).
Before kids came into the picture, 5 boys and 4 girls, my dad worked with Brigham Young University to create a fly fishing courses on the Provo river. He taught a fly tying class, and a fly fishing class, offering workshops along the river.
He wrote and illustrated this little notebook, ”The Fisherman's Notebook” as a curriculum for the course, and as a general handbook and guide for the love of fly fishing.
He taught us to catch fish and gave us a love for being outdoors, hiking to beautiful places and enjoying nature.
This book was never published, although it may have been used in classes, and I wanted to bring it to light, as it reflects his outdoor philosophy and ethics and his love of fishing, and desire to share it with others.
