Larry was an engineer who tested humanoid robot prototypes.

Larry was tasked with putting robots through comprehensive testing to improve their intelligence and mechanical capabilities.

Larry and his lab assistants enjoyed coming up with creative tests each day — to see what one of their robots—that they affectionately called “the clanker”— could handle.

During one day of testing, lab assistants kicked the robot over repeatedly as it tried to stand up. The comedic scene caused Larry to break out in laughter, which caused a violent malfunction in the clanker’s emotional emulator.

Larry is dead.
